Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, 29 September 1547 (assumed) – 22 April 1616 NS, was a renowned Early Modern Spanish writer. He is best known for his novel Don Quixote, which is considered the first modern novel and "the first great novel of world literature". Despite facing poverty and obscurity in his life, Cervantes's literary contribution is highly influential, to the point where Spanish is often called "the language of Cervantes". He also wrote a significant novel titled La Galatea.
