Flora refers to all the plant life in a specific region or time, typically native plants. It is the counterpart to fauna, and together with fungi, they form biota. The term "Flora" originates from the name of the goddess of plants in Roman mythology, Flora. It was initially used in poetry to describe natural vegetation but later evolved to also signify a catalog of such vegetation.
