Germanic tribes used three different alphabets for their writings: the runic alphabet, Ulfila's Gothic alphabet, and the Latin alphabet. The runic alphabet was the earliest, followed by Ulfila's Gothic alphabet in the 4th century, and finally, the Latin alphabet. The introduction of the Latin alphabet coincided with the spread of Christianity and Latin language texts.
