Uzbekistan's natural world is very diverse, with desert areas, snowy mountains, rivers, and dry lands. The Turon plate in Uzbekistan later became the Tian Shan and Pamir-Alai Mountains. The mountain ranges blocked humidity from the Indian Ocean, leading to a dry climate and the formation of huge desert areas like Kyzyl Kum and Kara Kum.
