Nowadays, audiovisual translation, abbreviated to AVT, has made it as the standard referent widely used across languages to refer to the field. This coinage has the advantage of including the semiotic dimension (audio and visual) of the product to be translated and is employed to denote the various translation practices implemented in the audiovisual industry.
