Islam Abduganievich Karimov was born on January 30, 1938 in Samarkand into a family of civil servants. He is Uzbek by nationality and has a higher degree. The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan is the head of state, he ensures the coordinated functioning of and interaction among government bodies. The President is the head of state and executive power and acts as the guarantor of the observation of rights and freedoms of citizens, the Constitution, and the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
